What a Pain in the Back!

Seriously!!

The culprit, I believe, is sneezing & laundry. Yesterday, I had an attack of sneezes while sorting & switching laundry. Sneezing over & over & over, etc. I think it must have been the combination of being bent over, twisting, and sneezing that threw my back out. The crazy thing is, it didn't hurt right away. It just slowly hurt worse and worse. I've had a kink in my neck and back before, but nothing to this extent. Wow! I said it earlier, and I'll say it again: back labor was less painful! Not to mention, there was the option for an epidural! I would love, love, LOVE an epidural right now!

I didn't realize how much I actually do until now, because I can't do anything. And I've only been home for just over 3 hours! God (and a chair) carried me through children's worship this morning. Aleve helped for about 30 minutes (though, still not allowing me to stand straight), then back down to walking at a 90 degree angle. Getting into the van wasn't easy, either. I was OK driving at first, but even that went downhill. I'm sure an entire king-sized Sprite spilling all over the front passenger side floor, going into the gas station to buy napkins to clean the spill (Sierra did the actual cleaning, thankfully!), then filling up my near-empty tank didn't help. The worst part - trying to lie flat, lifting my legs to stuff a pillow under my knees, then arching my back to shove in an ice pack. I know I made a scene because poor Trevor asked if he should call the hospital!

So, my whole reason for posting is to share something that made me laugh. Which, apparently, is yet one more thing I can't do right now! Anyway, the kids just made themselves a snack:

Mayo on bread crust. Mmm.

Mayo in hair. Hmm...

Now for what REALLY made me laugh (and nearly landing me in traction!)...

Abby's butter bread:

First bite...
Second bite...
After the third bite...

At least she tried. Oh, and Elise ate all of hers. (umm...eww.)

I know how much pain you are in but this still makes me laugh! No way I could lay flat! I was in the chair with a heating pad. Ibuprofin helps me more than aleve.. and icy hot...
I hope you are feeling better now. I am as long as I don't bend over too much. Can't lift Silas off the floor yet. Thankfully he crawls to me when I sit down.
Ok... didn't mean to make this about me. lol thanks for blogging.. I love reading your stuff!

Thanks, Dad... tho I prefer chicken, thank you ;)

Lea - I'm glad you're back is on the mend. I agree about ibu vs. Aleve. Aleve didn't work. It's easier (in a sense) to be down when kids are older and able to do things for themselves (besides break up fights, lol), but at least Silas is old enough to climb to you! Hope you keep getting better & quickly!!
